  • Workshop
This workshop brings together philosophers of diverse backgrounds reflecting on the current state of the realism-debate. It will address selective realist approaches to theories in fundamental physics and cosmology, new vistas on induction and confirmation in the context of scientific realism, global perspectives on the realism/anti-realism debate from feminist epistemology, the viability of classic arguments from holism in the face of selectivist approaches, and the subtle status of structuralist approaches to the philosophy of science between realism and anti-realism.

The workshop begins with a brief introduction and continues with presentations on entity realism, black holes, and effective and selective realism approaches. Other presentations cover holism, underdetermination, and structuralist approaches, supplemented by perspectives from the philosophy of science. There will be breaks between presentations for discussion and networking.
