The Smart Home Hackathon “Shape the Future of Smart Homes!” brings together creative minds from various fields in Dortmund. Technology enthusiasts, innovators, data experts and simply curious people will work together to develop digital solutions for the smart home of tomorrow.

What will the home of the future look like – smart, sustainable and with data sovereignty? At the Smart Home Hackathon, interdisciplinary teams will come together to develop innovative ideas for smart homes. Together, they develop creative solutions for real challenges in the smart home sector. Experts from research, start-ups and organizations provide specialist and technical support.

Participants will work on real challenges that companies are facing today. At the end, all teams will present their results to a panel of experts who will award prizes for the best ideas, with a total prize pool of 1,200 euros. Everyone attending the hackathon will receive a certificate of participation. The event is open to everyone, from beginners to professionals.

The hackathon is a joint project of the Smart City Initiative of the City of Dortmund, the initiative CONNECTED.ESSEN, Vreeda, PARAX, fior Home, Logarithmo, Fraunhofer ISST, as well as the IHK Dortmund, and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer (CET) at TU Dortmund University. The event is taking place as part of the  research project Opt-IN, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).

Registrations are possible until 28 June. The main language of the event is English.
