Prof. Marja van den Heuvel-Panhuizen von der Universität Utrecht spricht im Rahmen des Mathematikdidaktischen Kolloquiums über das Thema „RME – A teaching approach that makes sense: Picture books as an example“.
Realistic Mathematics Education is a domain-specific instruction theory for the subject of mathematics developed in the Netherlands. Characteristic of RME is that rich, ‘realistic’ – in the sense of meaningful – situations are given a prominent place in the learning process. These situations serve as a source for initiating the development of mathematical concepts, tools and procedures. For young children picture books can create such a learning environment. In this lecture, Prof. Marja van den Heuvel-Panhuizen will zoom in on a research project that investigated the potential of picture books to support children’s learning of mathematics.
