Return of religion or increasing secularization? The role of religion in current party politics

Three experts in the research field of “politics and religion” will discuss whether and how religion influences current party politics. The discussion is moderated by Prof. Matthias Kortmann from the Department of Humanities and Theology at TU Dortmund University.

The Institute of Philosophy and Political Science hosts the upcoming panel discussion “Return of religion or increasing secularization? The role of religion in current (party) politics” and invites everybody interested to join. 

The discussants will be: Fabio Wolkenstein, Associated Professor for “Transformations of Democracy” at the University of Vienna, Annette Schnabel, who is a professor of Sociology at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf and the co-editor of “Religion, Gesellschaft und Politik”, as well as Jonathan Fox from Bar-Ilan University in Israel, who specializes in the influence of religion on politics. The chair of the discussion will be Prof. Matthias Kortmann from TU Dortmund University. 

No registration is required in advance. Admission starts at 10:00 am. Guests are asked to arrive on time. The event will not be filmed, streamed or otherwise broadcasted.
