Member of UA Ruhr
Together everyone achieves more: Acting on this maxim, TU Dortmund University joined forces with the Ruhr Universität Bochum and the University of Duisburg-Essen to form the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) back in 2007. The approximately 120,000 students can take advantage of courses offered at all three universities. There are numerous cooperations in research. In order to bundle top international research, the UA Ruhr established four joint Research Centers and a College for Social Sciences and Humanities under the umbrella of the "Research Alliance Ruhr" in 2021.

There are 4,330 international students from around 115 countries studying at TU Dortmund University; they make up around 13 percent of all 32,476 students. More and more students from Dortmund are also completing parts of their studies or internships abroad.
The International Office is responsible for maintaining international relations at TU Dortmund University. The Welcome Service supports academics from abroad on their arrival in Germany.
International cooperation agreements
TU Dortmund University cooperates in a variety of ways with universities all over the world. Internationality improves the quality of research and teaching and strengthens the reputation of TU Dortmund University in the national as well as international educational and research landscape. Therefore, the university will continue to promote close cooperation with foreign research and educational partners in the future.
