Religions

TU Dortmund University is a place of diversity. Here, the individual practice of religion is seen as part of everyday campus life.

This is only limited where it affects regular university operations or other members of TU Dortmund University in their studies, teaching and research or where safety-relevant aspects such as emergency exits or fire protection are affected.

Wearing religiously motivated clothing—including a veil that covers the face—is also part of the individual practice of religion.
This is generally permitted in all courses and exams, as it does not in itself interfere with teaching or examination procedures.

If identification is required in individual cases—such as for mandatory attendance in seminars or during exams—this can be done discreetly in a separate room by a female staff member.

Restrictions may arise from safety requirements, such as when working with machinery or in laboratories. In these cases, the general safety regulations apply equally to all students.
