Spatial Planning

The Department of Spatial Planning is the largest university department for spatial planning in Europe. The variety and thematic range of professorships offers academic training in spatial planning from a legal, economic, sociological, and ecological perspective. The department’s curriculum consists of a Bachelor’s and a Master’s program in Spatial Planning as well as an English-taught Master’s in Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies (SPRING). Research-based learning is central to the study of spatial planning. The core of the program is urban design and study projects to promote the students’ ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and to foster their scientific and application-oriented skills.
