Study Areas at TU Dortmund University

TU Dortmund University offers numerous individual and group workstations at various locations that students can use to study for exams, write assignments, or prepare presentations.

The Emil Figge Library at Emil-Figge-Straße 50 offers 287 learning workstations and is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Sebrath Library at Sebrathweg 7 offers 240 learning workstations. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

At the South Campus, the Departmental Library of Architecture and Civil Engineering, with 24 learning workstations, and the Departmental Library of Spatial Planning, with 55 workstations, are located in Storey Building I at August-Schmidt-Straße 6. During the lecture period, the two departmental libraries are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday. During the semester break, they are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In addition to the learning workstations in the departments and the departmental libraries, spaces are also available in the Seminar Room Building (500 workstations), in the Gallery of the Main Cafeteria Building (450 workstations), and in the co-learning spaces on the North Campus (310 workstations) and South Campus (65 workstations). In addition, study groups can use 30 learning workstations at the International Meeting Center (IBZ).

The City Learning Space (Westenhellweg 127) in Dortmund’s city center offers 160 learning workstations for students of TU Dortmund University as well as for students enrolled at Ruhr University Bochum, the University of Duisburg-Essen or Fachhochschule Dortmund – University of Applied Sciences and Art.

Workstations available during the evening

During the transition period, there are also learning workstations that can be used during the evening hours. The Sebrath Library (240 workstations) is currently open until 8 p.m. each day. Students can also use the co-learning space at the South Campus (65 workstations) until 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. On average, about 100 students use the UB's locations late at night to study. On Mondays through Saturdays, students can study in the Emil Figge Library (287 workstations) until 10 p.m. The Gallery in the Main Cafeteria Building (450 workstations) as well as the City Learning Space (160 workstations) are open until 10 p.m. all week. In the co-learning space on the North Campus, 310 workstations are available until 1 a.m. every day. During the evening and night hours, students can ask the security guards to accompany them to the S-Bahn stop or to the parking lot.
