At TU Dortmund University, various stakeholders are working to create a positive awareness of diversity and inclusion in the academic world. The aim is to promote an open and respectful atmosphere in which everyone is welcome.

TU Dortmund University focuses on equal opportunities and diversity at all levels of action. With this in mind, the Rectorate set up the Diversity Working Group in 2020, which is chaired by Vice-President Diversity, Prof. Petra Wiederkehr.

On the initiative of the Rector, the Abuse of Power Working Group was formed in August 2023. This is where the various advice and contact points at TU Dortmund University come together in order to gain as broad a perspective as possible on this complex issue.

The constituted student body of TU Dortmund University supports independent disability work and policy.

ABeR - Autonomous Department for the Disabled

The chair presides over the AStA, takes on the legal supervision of the student body and much of the organizational work to fulfill the tasks of the AStA. We represent the positions and wishes of the student body to the university and outside the campus.

The department consists of representatives elected by female* and non-binary students who autonomously advocate for the interests of these student groups. They represent them in communication with other university committees and bring them to the attention of the public. In addition, the department offers counseling, networking events, and individual support.

TU Dortmund University's Complaints Management offers contact points in the departments and at central university level to which students can turn in the event of conflicts, complaints or suggestions for improvement in the area of teaching and studies.

The SchuDS (abbreviation for Central Advice Centre for Protection against Discrimination and Sexualized Violence) at TU Dortmund University is the central point of contact for people who experience or observe discrimination or sexualized violence or simply have questions on the subject. The employees of SchuDS are there for all members and relatives such as students, lecturers, employees of TU Dortmund University and all persons who are there temporarily and/or permanently with the knowledge and will of TU Dortmund University in connection with the original tasks of the university.
Discrimination and sexualized violence will be pursued intensively and relentlessly at the request of the person seeking advice and sanctioned appropriately within the scope of legal and actual possibilities.

Counseling is confidential, impartial and, if desired, anonymous.
No steps will be taken without your consent.

Access to the Emil-Figge Library, the Sebrath Library and the South Campus Library is barrier-free. TU Dortmund University has also had some of the entrances to the library buildings specially marked for the blind and visually impaired.
