Pre-courses, orientation week, pub evening – you won't start alone with us. Some degree courses offer preliminary courses before the semester starts – perfect for brushing up on school material. During orientation week, you can immerse yourself in university life, find out about the timetable and meet lots of new people.

Uni-ABCs – your quick help
Some terms sound like a foreign word at first – don't worry! The Uni ABCs teach you the most important words quickly and easily so that you can join in the conversation straight away.
Your university – your campus
You can find all the important information for your start at university at a glance on the Start your studies website. For even more orientation, the TU app will also help you – here you will also find the weekly plan for your lunch, your semester ticket, your WiFi password and much more.
Indoors or outdoors – at TU Dortmund University you will definitely find your favorite place to study, chat and relax. For a first orientation at the university and tips on how to get there, visit our campus overview or use the campus navigation in the TU app.
And don't worry in the IT jungle: the "IT TU-Go" event on digital life at the university will prepare you well and show you how everything works.


Housing, money & pizza
The Studierendenwerk Dortmund will help you find a place in student accommodation and provide advice and assistance with your BAföG application. Need a coffee break or a pizza? No problem – you can also find the locations and menus of all 14 canteens and cafeterias here and in the TU app.
Join in – keep moving!
Whether it's yoga, climbing or soccer – over 230 courses await you in university sports. There's also the campus run, the soccer league and the fitness studio right on site. Perfect for clearing your head – and meeting new people.

Good to know
After your successful admission and provisional enrollment at TU Dortmund University, there are a few important steps to take to ensure that your studies start smoothly.
- Transfer the semester fee: You can find the payment information in the campus portal.
- Give a Proof of insurance: Electronic notification of your health insurance status.
- Activate your UniAccount: This gives you access to important services such as your TU mail, the campus portal and the TU app.
- Receive your semester ticket: Digitally via the TU app.
