Preliminary Courses

You think your studies start at the beginning of the semester? Not quite right - because the preliminary courses are already an important part of your studies.

The pre-courses are an essential offer at the TU Dortmund University, in which differences in previous education are taken up and absorbed. In the form of compact courses lasting several days to several weeks, the essential contents of the school material are repeated and you gain an initial insight into the working methods of the course. The exercises offer you the opportunity to actively deal with the contents in smaller groups and to practice and refresh learning techniques.

The TU Dortmund University offers preliminary courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science.

Online courses at home

To prepare for your studies, so-called study courses are freely available online.

"Pre-course at home"

The materials from the preliminary courses are made available parallel to the preliminary course as well as afterwards for download. Students who are unable to attend the preliminary courses have the opportunity to work through the content independently with the help of the materials and to prepare themselves for their studies. One thing is clear: working through the material on your own can in no way replace participation in the preliminary courses - but it is better than nothing!
