Nagoya Protocol
The Nagoya Protocol is an international agreement that regulates access to genetic resources. The aim is to use and distribute resources and the resulting benefits fairly.
The implementation of the protocol is regulated in EU regulations and in a federal law and is monitored by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation.
Federal Agency for Nature Conservation
Universities are obliged to monitor and document compliance with the regulations and to inform their researchers.
Should you work with genetic resources, please complete the checklist (in German) available in the Service Portal. If you answer 'Yes' to all questions on the checklist, your planned activities fall under the Nagoya Protocol and the EU Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Regulation (EU Regulation No. 511/2014). In this case, please complete the self-declaration on page 2 of the checklist and contact nagoya-protokoll@tu-dortmund.de. If you have answered 'Yes' to individual questions or are unsure about how to proceed, please do not hesitate to contact us for advice.
