TU Dortmund University receives 14.2 million euros for startup support at the Excellence Startup Center Dortmund.

The City Council of Dortmund decides on the further development of the Master Plan Science 2.0. The commissioner of the new Master Plan is Prof. Herbert Waldmann from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at TU Dortmund University.

To be able to hold practical classes on campus during the ongoing Corona pandemic, TU Dortmund University sets up its own testing strategy using pooled PCR testing.

The UA Ruhr signs a cooperation agreement to establish the Research Alliance Ruhr.

The foundation stone for the “Center for Advanced Liquid-Phase Engineering Dortmund” (CALEDO) is laid. The federal state and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) are supporting the project with 72 million euros.

The German University Sports Federation (adh) distinguishes TU Dortmund University as the University of the Year, honoring the work of the Office of University Sports.

TU Dortmund University declares its solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine and those affected by it. Together with the Association of Friends of TU Dortmund University (GdF), it offers support to affected students and researchers.

Prof. Edvardas Narevicius accepts the Humboldt Professorship “Ultracold Reactions” in the Department of Physics and thus is the first international professor appointed by the Research Alliance Ruhr.

To raise public awareness of the energy crisis, TU Dortmund University temporarily switches off the TU logo atop the Math Tower. Rooms are only heated to a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, further energy conservation measures are taken. As a result, the university is able to reduce the energy used for heating during the winter semester by more than 20 percent.

The Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, which originated from the Competence Center Machine Learning Rhine-Ruhr, is officially inaugurated in the presence of Hendrik Wüst, Premier of NRW, and Ina Brandes, NRW’s Minister of Culture and Science.

The new University Council is constituted and elects Prof. Johanna Weber as chairwoman. She succeeds Prof. Ernst Rank, who stepped down after 16 years in office.

The new research center "TU Dortmund University - Center for Data Science and Simulation (DoDaS)" is inaugurated. In DoDaS, scientists from various departments pool their expertise in the fields of data science and simulation.

The construction of the new University Library is entering its first phase: the old Central Library closes and all inventory is moved. From 2025, the new building will be built in the same location as a modern space for learning and meeting.

The Rectorate presents the new Research Strategy of TU Dortmund University 2023-2027 to the university public and launches an extensive participatory process in which members of TU Dortmund University are invited to further develop the objectives.
15 February 2024
TU Dortmund University inaugurates the interdisciplinary research center DAEDALUS, where scientists from various departments will research cross-scale dynamics.
31 May 2024
The German Research Foundation (DFG) approves the joint Transregio (TRR) 391 “Spatio-temporal Statistics for the Transition of Energy and Transport” of TU Dortmund University and Ruhr University Bochum. In TRR 391, the two universities will develop statistical methods to model and forecast data on the energy and mobility transition.
12 November 2024
The UA Ruhr establishes a joint Council for Ethics and Responsibility. The council deals with discussions on values in science and research within the UA Ruhr.
15 December 2024
TU Dortmund University signs the lease for the Hansa Carré. The building in Dortmund's city center will be converted into learning spaces for students as well as rooms for events.
