The free tickets were initially allocated to Ukrainian and Russian students of the university, who were contacted by e-mail. The remaining tickets were subsequently made available to interested students and employees. "With this project, we want to set an example for peace and understanding," said Guido Baranowski, chairman of the GdF.
Ukrainian trombonist Polina Tarasenko and Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina will be soloists at the concert, performing with Les Essences under the direction of Turkish concertmaster Önder Baloglu. At the beginning of the concert, the Youth Concert Choir of the Choral Academy will sing a cappella works, and the Ukrainian pianist Boris Bloch will enrich the musical program with solo works.
With this peace concert, the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund and the musicians would like to express their wish for peaceful coexistence and help people in and from Ukraine. The proceeds will go to the aid organization CARE for people in Ukraine and to the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Dortmund, which helps sick refugee Ukrainian children and their families.
