TU Dortmund in Conversation

In the summer semester 2025, all members of TU Dortmund University are again cordially invited to the lecture series "TU Dortmund in Conversation". The goal of the lecture series is to present research at TU Dortmund University in an interdisciplinary format and to bring members of the university into conversation with each other.

June 5, 2025: Resilience – Interdisciplinary Approaches for a Robust Future

The event will focus on the topic: “Resilience. Interdisciplinary Approaches for a Robust Future” and will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the International Meeting Center (IBZ) on the North Campus.Researchers from various disciplines will discuss how resilience can be conceptualized and strengthened from a scientific perspective. 

Keynote lectures will be given by Prof. Dr. Alice Kirchheim (Department of Mechanical Engineering, TU Dortmund University) and Prof. Dr. Johannes Vüllers (Faculty of Social Sciences, University Duisburg-Essen). Following the lectures, there will be a panel discussion featuring Prof. Dr. Thomas Hartmann (Department of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund University) and Prof. Dr. Esther Dominique Klein (Department of Educational Sciences and Psychology, TU Dortmund University). The interdisciplinary panel discussion will be moderated by Ellen Wiese (Psychological Student Advisory Services, TU Dortmund University). Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for informal networking over snacks and drinks.

Participation is free of charge. To help us with planning, we kindly ask you to register in advance if you plan to attend in person.

July 17, 2025: Everything Toxic? Understanding Risks, Shaping Solutions

This event examines toxic influences from different angles and offers an interdisciplinary forum to discuss the effects of toxic structures on gender roles, health, and the working world. Experts from various fields will share their insights and offer solutions to scientifically relevant challenges.

Event Structure

As usual, each event will feature two lectures by professors from different disciplines. This will be followed by a panel discussion with researchers from TU Dortmund. The discussions can be continued during a get-together with drinks and snacks.
