Exciting input and speed dating
"My Path - Your Chance" once again highlights how valuable direct encounters with scientists are for young people's professional orientation and how diverse the paths into research can be.

At the beginning, the Graduate Center presented key information about starting a career in science and the topic of doctoral studies. This included questions such as: What steps lead to an academic career? What opportunities does a doctorate offer? And how can you set the course for a career in research during your studies?
In the subsequent speed dating session in breakout rooms, participants were able to talk directly to the three academics. The role models from the fields of spatial planning, psychology and educational science spoke openly about their personal careers, challenges and experiences in the academic system.
The diversity of the disciplines represented and the personal exchange in the small groups were particularly positively emphasized by the participants. Many students found the discussions very enriching and took the opportunity to ask questions about planning an academic career and about career and future prospects in science. At the same time, the high level of interest also showed that the 15 minutes per discussion round were almost too short - more questions could have been asked.
