Prof. Dr. Sabine Hornberg

Professor Sabine Hornberg assumed office as Vice President Academic Affairs on 1 September 2026.

Hornberg joined TU Dortmund University in 2012 as Professor of School Pedagogy, having previously held a position at the University of Bayreuth. Before that, she worked at various higher education institutions, including as project manager for the 2006 International Primary School Reading Study (PIRLS). Her research focuses include heterogeneity in education systems, migration pedagogy, and international school models. At the Department of Educational Sciences and Psychology, she has gained extensive leadership experience: she served as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs from 2017 onwards and assumed the role of Dean in 2020.

The Vice President Academic Affairs is responsible for all cross-departmental matters concerning teaching and learning as well as continuing education. This includes quality of teaching, structures for the university’s degree portfolio, and membership of the Standing Committee for Quality Development in Learning and Teaching (SK QSL).
