The preliminary courses are always independent of admission/confirmation of enrolment for a degree course at TU Dortmund University and can therefore be attended without any prerequisites. However, please note the information on registration on the linked websites.
Preliminary courses for the start of the summer semester 2026
For the start of the summer semester, there will probably be a preliminary course in hybrid form (lectures as video, exercises as self-study, additional weekly attendance dates from around mid-March 2026)

Preliminary course in chemistry and chemical biology
The preliminary course is primarily aimed at Bachelor's students from the CCB department, in particular those studying chemistry, chemical biology and chemistry as a teaching subject for teacher training for the German secondary schools ‘Gymnasium und Gesamtschule’ and for vocational schools. Students from other departments are admitted if the corresponding teachers of the preliminary course agree.
Participation is voluntary and registration is not required.

The preliminary course in computer science is aimed at first-year students of computer science, applied computer science (computer engineering), teacher training and all subjects using computer science.

The preliminary course in mathematics is aimed at first-year students of computer science, applied computer science (computer engineering), teacher training in computer science and all subjects using computer science.

There ist a preliminary course for students who start a Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration and Economics in the summer semester.

Master's preliminary course in econometrics
For the Master's degree course in Economics, a preliminary econometrics course lasting several days is offered each semester at the start of lectures. The aim of the preliminary course is to learn or refresh previous knowledge in mathematics and statistics, which is required for the compulsory module "Econometrics", but also for other mathematically or statistically oriented modules of the Master's program.
