Were you aware before your studies that you had all the prerequisites for a scholarship? How did you become aware of the topic?

When I was in high school, my brother was already studying at the TU Dortmund and was a participant in the Deutschlandstipendium. Since I already had very good grades at school, it was clear to me that I wanted to apply for a scholarship before I started my studies. While I was still at school, the Karl Schlotmann Foundation held an information event at my school. It was through this event that I became aware of the scholarship. I then applied for it and was ultimately accepted.

What does it mean to you to be a scholarship recipient?

The Karl Schlotmann Foundation (KSS) is a small local foundation from the Unna district. In addition to financial support, the KSS offers a very familiar atmosphere. For example, I really like the exchange with the other scholarship holders that takes place on trips and at the foundation's events. That way, you can learn from the experiences of the other scholarship holders. In addition, the foundation offers contact with companies and alumni who are already working.

What do you dream of professionally, what would you like to achieve later?

I am not yet sure in which direction I want to orient myself after graduation. In principle, I can well imagine doing a doctorate, as I have recently enjoyed scientific work a lot. However, entering the business world is also a possibility for me. In the near future, I will therefore try to gain as many insights as possible into the various fields of work. A scholarship can also help with this through contacts to the various industries.

What tips would you give to prospective students and students who are interested in / would like to apply for a scholarship?

I can only recommend everyone to apply for a scholarship if possible. The financial support makes it possible to concentrate on your studies to an extent that would otherwise not be possible. An application costs no more than a few hours and it is really worth it!
