Emily, Statistics, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom

What does it mean to you to be a scholarship recipient?
For me, this means one thing above all: the chance to network, exchange ideas, get involved and put myself into practice. The foundation is the perfect environment for me to meet interesting people from other fields of study and to broaden my horizons.
What tips would you give to prospective students and students who are interested in / would like to apply for a scholarship?
Have the courage and just try it! You have nothing to lose and it's definitely worth it. And when it comes to the job interview, just be yourself.
What special offers does your Förderwerk have that you can take advantage of?
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom has many offers for scholarship holders. The selection of evening events and weekend seminars is very large, so there is certainly something for everyone. In addition, a very special feature of our fellowship is the self-organization. There are numerous fellowship working groups on various topics in which we have the opportunity to get involved and organize seminars ourselves - on topics of our own choosing. This was the first time I had to deal with event organization and the like, and you learn a lot of new things.
What has changed in your life/study as a result of the scholarship?
Through the seminars that you can take part in from the foundation, you get to know people from very different corners of Germany - and also internationally - and can attend seminars in different places. It's a great opportunity to get away from the Ruhr for a few days. The Theodor Heuss Academy, where many seminars take place, is located in Gummersbach, which is of course very convenient for students from Dortmund and the surrounding area because the distance is not too great.
In general, what has changed for me is that I can deal with political topics more and also more easily, since they are more or less served to me on a silver platter. That's a real luxury, I think!
