Dropping out of university & looking for an apprenticeship

For students who are thinking about dropping out of university, our external advisory network consisting of the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts (HWK) and the university team of the employment agency offers campus consultation hours. Our network partners will advise you on questions about vocational training, career opportunities and general questions about choosing a course of study or training. They will also support you in making contact with suitable training companies.

Counseling focus:
Individual advice on all questions relating to the choice of studies and training. Contact the university team if you:

  • are looking for advice on employment-oriented studies
  • want to further develop your career goals
  • are thinking about dropping out of university and alternatives to studying
  • are looking for a training place or a practical placement for a dual study program
  • want to find out about developments on the job market
  • plan your individual application strategy
  • want to optimize your application documents
  • want to orient yourself on the job market

If you are already looking specifically for a training position, job and training fairs are a good opportunity to get in touch with companies and clarify questions. You can find an overview of upcoming training fairs in NRW, for example, at Berufsorientierung-Plus.de and Berufsstart.de.
