What is it about?

Do you want to deepen your knowledge in modern material and structural mechanics through an international and researchoriented Master's program?

Are you interested in how sustainable materials and advanced modelling methods shape the future of engineering?

Curious how a trinational study program at three leading European universities prepares you for a scientific career or cutting-edge engineering work?

Interest sparked?

In this degree program, students work with topics such as:

  • deepening theoretical and numerical methods for modelling complex materials and structures
  • analysis of the mechanical behavior of sustainable and advanced materials
  • development and application of computational simulation methods in diverse environmental and loading scenarios

How do I get into the Master's program?

To gain admission and enroll in a Master’s degree program, applicants must meet the required access criteria.

Examination Regulations of M.Sc. Mechanics of Sustainable Materials and Structures

Students apply and enroll through the Campusportal. Deadlines vary depending on the according Master’s degree program.

In this program, you spend the first semester at TU Dortmund University, the second at the University of Trento (Italy), and the third at École Centrale de Nantes (France). The fourth semester is dedicated to the master’s thesis, which is completed either at one of the three universities or at an international partner institution associated with the program.

Semester fees and tuition fees are charged by all three universities. The amount varies depending on whether you have EU/EEA citizenship or not.

Please also note that the lecture period already begins in September.

What’s next after graduation?

I work, e.g.,

  • in research and development
  • in advanced mechanics for innovative materials and structures
  • in materials and structures in their environment

I work as, e.g.,

  • research engineers in industry or academia
  • experts in numerical simulation
  • project managers in sustainable materials and structures
  • research associates with PhD perspective

After earning a Master’s degree, graduates can explore various career paths—from directly entering the workforce to pursuing a Ph.D. or an additional Master’s degree program to expand their knowledge and follow personal interests.

The Career Service at TU Dortmund University helps students and alumni to develop their professional profiles, gain hands‑on experience, connect with employers, and build successful application strategies for starting their careers.
