Overview

Master’s students can choose between four specializations that each include four to six subjects as well as one specialization entirely in English:
Accounting & Finance
Management & Organizations
Digitalization & Entrepreneurship
Business & Economics

In this way, the integrated training model is retained within the framework of the Master’s degree program too, meaning that students choose at least two modules outside their specialization. Further options are available. Like in the Bachelor’s degree program, great importance is attached to the acquisition of key skills. Methodological, social and personal skills are taught primarily through case studies and tutorials.

Skills and knowledge

The M.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics addresses those graduates who have been particularly successful in their Bachelor’s degree program and wish to assume senior management positions in their subsequent career or pursue doctoral studies.

This can also include graduates of related degree programs, such as Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics or Mathematics and Economics, or another university degree program with a minor subject in an area of economics.

Prerequisite for the Master’s degree program in Business Administration and Economics is a relevant Bachelor’s degree with a final cumulative grade of “Good” (at least 2.5). A Bachelor’s degree is deemed relevant if the following conditions are fulfilled:

  • At least 60 credits must have been earned in business administration and/or macroeconomics.
  • At least 60 credits must have been earned in macroeconomics, statistics, computer science and/or mathematics.

Field of activity

The Master’s degree program is a stepping stone especially for higher positions in industry, commerce and the skilled trades, banks, insurance companies and with other service providers, research institutes, associations and the public sector. Examples of professional fields are marketing, human resources, consulting, controlling, accounting, auditing, purchasing, sales/distribution, project management and many more besides.

Additional information

Participation in a preliminary econometrics course at the beginning of the lecture period provides a helpful introduction to the program.

During the course of the studies, advice and support services are offered at any time for the further design and successful completion of the studies.

The numerous English-language courses and international cooperations of the faculty and university enable students to acquire important intercultural knowledge and skills.

An internship is not mandatory in the course of study. Nevertheless, it should be used as a chance to deepen already existing practical experience. The faculty is happy to support the integration of an internship into the course of studies.
