The events „semester series“ are mostly held in German. The events below are held bilingually.
The events "Exam Survival Kit/ Prüfungstrilogie" are held in English.

Semester Series "Together instead of alone - socialising, studying together, feeling connected"

As part of the semester motto, the Psychological Student Advisory Service offers information and support on a current topic - this time it's all about loneliness and how to cope with it.

Loneliness is often only associated with older people, but the reality is different. Around 14% of people between the ages of 18 and 29 report feelings of loneliness (Einsamkeitsbarometer 2024 des Ministeriums für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend). Feelings of loneliness can become quite serious, especially when studying - whether academically or emotionally. And the way out often seems like a huge obstacle.

That's why the Psychological Student Advisory Service invites you to explore in a series of events how loneliness arises and what creative ways there are to get closer  again. Let's find out how students can support each other - not only during their studies, but also beyond!

In this events English is also spoken...

Lecture: "Overcoming Social Isolation – Einsamkeit verstehen und bewältigen"

This lecture kicks off the event series on loneliness organized by the Psychological Student Advisory Service.
Loneliness is a problem that needs a social and individual approach to solve. This lecture deals with individual solution strategies. Together we will explore what the difference is between loneliness and being alone - and what is helpful for socialising with others.
The lecture is aimed at those affected and people who want to help, and presents possible personal solutions.
Sharing is a step against loneliness. The PSB team not only wants to share ideas, but also joy, and will bring something to share to the event. We would be delighted if you could also bring something to share at the cosy get-together after the talk.

Tuesday, 15 April 2025 from 16:15-18:00
Location: AStA – Seminar Room
To help with planning, prior registration is requested.

Workshop "Creative Connections- Gemeinsam kreativ sein und Ideen gegen Einsamkeit entwickeln“

Quite a lot of students feel lonely sometimes, whether academically or emotionally. Recognizing this is the first step. The next is to get active!
We open up a space in which you can be creative  in familiar or perhaps completely new ways. But that's not all. We also want to address the question: What can students do for students who feel lonely?
The aim is to come up with conceptual ideas that can be realized in winter semester 25/26 and thus make a real difference. A unique opportunity to make a lasting change for yourself and your fellow students.

Thursday, 22 May 2025 from 16.00-18.00
Location: will be announced after registration

Workshop "Speedconnecting – finde neue Kontakte auf dem Campus“

The concept of speed dating is a tried and tested icebreaker for getting to know new people. The psychological student advisory services of the Studierendenwerk and TU Dortmund University make use of this as part of the Speed Connecting event. Whether you want to meet new people or are looking for a study buddy, a few rounds of speed connecting will allow you to make new connections. And with free snacks and a coffee, you can find out what there is to experience for free for students in Dortmund. Lets make sustainable new connections.

Thursday, 25 June 2025 from 16.00-19.00
Location: will be announced after registration

Exam Survival Kit/ Prüfungstrilogie

The new semester is approaching, and while it hasn't started yet, one thing is certain: exams will be here before you know it, and papers will be due. To help you manage these stressors as they loom over you, the Psychological Student Advisory Service has created a series of workshops that address the three key stages of exam preparation. We’ll begin with self- and time management, then move on to effective learning strategies, and wrap up with how to cultivate ‘nerves of steel’. Together, we’ll explore individual ways to prepare for, conquer, and master the ‘doom of exams,’ unlocking your inner Exam Boss Mode—all while maintaining calm and confidence.
