UA Ruhr Science Speed Dating “Complex Bodies in Culture, Literature, and Science”

on 15.01.2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
in the Lecture Hall (E.001) of the Mechanical Engineering Building 3
on the South Campus of TU Dortmund University
Baroper Straße 303, 44227 Dortmund

The topic of Complex Bodies in Culture, Literature, and Science opens an interdisciplinary approach to concepts of the body that are examined at the intersection of the humanities, social, technical and natural sciences. It combines cultural and literary analyses with epistemological, medical, and social science perspectives on embodied aspects of disability, chronic illness, prosthetics, gender, sex, racialization, religion as well as processes of normativization and rehabilitation. By bringing together different disciplines' theoretical and methodological approaches to physical diversity, standardization, and social power relations, the event facilitates a low-threshold exchange on common issues and promotes the development of new interdisciplinary research impulses.

We look forward to your participation. If you are interested, please register here by 10.01.2026: https://www.tu-dortmund.de/forschung/anmeldung-science-speed-dating/
