Firsthand Advice on Scholarships
After the morning registration, two informational presentations began simultaneously. While Anne Schäfer was in the IBZ auditorium debunking common myths about scholarships with her presentation “Scholarships? Not Just for the Highly Gifted!”—dispelled common myths surrounding scholarships and provided an overview of various funding opportunities, those interested gathered in the workshop room with Laura Hope to learn about scholarships for studying abroad and BAföG for international students. It became clear that financial support is available for many different life paths and educational trajectories.
A particular highlight of the event was the subsequent “Market of Opportunities.” Numerous funding organizations and scholarship programs were represented and available for one-on-one discussions.Visitors took full advantage of the opportunity to ask questions about eligibility requirements, application procedures, and the offerings of the individual scholarship organizations. The direct exchange with representativesof the funding organizations as well as with scholarship recipients provided authentic insights into everyday life as a scholarship recipient and helped to alleviate any reservations.
The event concluded with the workshop “How Do I Write a Scholarship Application?” led by Barbara Bernhard. Here, participants received practical guidance on preparing compelling application materials and were able to take away valuable tips for their own applications.
Scholarship Day 2026 once again demonstrated the high level of interest in student financial aid and how important personal counseling and information are for accessing scholarship opportunities. The high turnout, the brisk demand at the information booths, and the engaged discussions made the event a successful forum for exchange and guidance on the topic of financial aid.
