Creative Peer Format Entered Its Second Round

On March 26, the “Paint & Talk” event took place for the second time at the TU Dortmund University Art Galleries as part of the talent scouting program. High school and college students came together in a creative atmosphere to paint, exchange ideas, and make new connections.

The session was led by talent scout Barbara Bernhard and Kolja Knies, who coordinates the peer-to-peer sessions. The goal of the event was to spark conversations through creative prompts and to give participants space to reflect on their personal perspectives.

The focus was on collaborative painting: Within short, predetermined time frames, participants expressed various themes artistically. These included motifs such as an animal, their current mood, or their next three steps toward the future. These exercises provided a low-threshold entry point for discussing individual life paths, goals, and challenges.

The open and appreciative atmosphere was also evident in the fact that many conversations took place in English—in part to include a participant from India. This was seen as enriching by everyone involved and contributed to a lively, intercultural dialogue.

Throughout the event, there was plenty of laughter and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. By the end, numerous colorful and personal works of art had been created, which the participants were able to take home.

During the closing reception with snacks and drinks, the exchange continued in a casual setting. “Paint & Talk” thus not only offered a creative approach to topics related to the future and education but also strengthened the sense of community and networking among the participants.
