Focus on Your Own Educational Path

The focus was not only on challenges, but also—and quite deliberately—on the resources and strengths that the participants already possess.

What skills, experiences, and support services might be helpful as you continue on this path? And what unique perspectives and opportunities arise from being the first in your family to attend college?

In the intensive “Ready to Study” workshop, participants explored their own educational journeys, as well as the unique challenges and opportunities that can come with being the first in their family to pursue a college degree.

The focus was initially on participants’ personal educational histories: What experiences have shaped their journey so far? What expectations and challenges might arise when one’s own parents did not attend college themselves? Together, they reflected on potential hurdles and examined their own experiences from different perspectives.

The workshop provided a space for an open and lively exchange. Participants were able to share their experiences, learn from one another, and realize that they are not alone in facing many questions and uncertainties. At the same time, it became clear what individual resources are already available and how these can be leveraged for their own educational and academic journeys.

As a result, the event turned into an intensive afternoon that not only brought challenges to light but, above all, focused attention on the participants’ own strengths, opportunities, and future paths.
