What am I particularly good at?

On September 3, 2026, the first of two workshops on applying for a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation took place on the South Campus. Fifteen high school students and high school graduates, who had been nominated by their talent scouts or their schools, took advantage of the opportunity to thoroughly explore the application process and, above all, their own strengths, interests, and personal commitment. For the first time, students in the pre-Abitur year were also eligible for nomination.

Led by Marie-Christine Boos and Kolja Knies from Talentscouting, along with a representative from the Studienstiftung, the participants first gained insights into the Studienstiftung’s mission statement, funding opportunities, and the profile of its scholarship recipients . Then it was time for some hands-on work: In various writing workshops , the students worked on their own application materials—from digital application forms and tabular summaries to detailed résumés.

This involved far more than just choosing the right wording. The participants reflected on their personal strengths, refined their profiles, and explored how they could present their commitment and their journey so far in an authentic and compelling way. A key element was finding the “common thread”: What defines me? What experiences have shaped me? And how can I demonstrate why I’m a good fit for the Studienstiftung?

The atmosphere in the workshop was marked by keen interest, many questions, and a lively exchange of ideas. The participants actively shaped the workshop, supported one another, and took advantage of the opportunity to begin working on their applications in concrete terms.

The workshop demonstrated once again how valuable it can be not only to inform young people about funding opportunities but also to support them in recognizing their own potential and confidently showcasing it. Throughout the rest of the application and selection process, the students will also receive close guidance from their talent scouts.
