Finding Your Own Path to College

How do I find the degree program that’s right for me? And what if I don’t even know yet where my path should lead? The “Schnupperuni” workshop “Find Your Way to College #realtalk” addressed exactly these questions—openly, personally, and without pre-packaged answers.

In a conversation with Kolja from Talent Scouting, TU Guides Milan and Sophia shared their own paths to college, discussing the uncertainties, doubts, and decisions that didn’t always follow a straight path. Their personal experiences made it clear: It’s completely normal not to have the perfect plan right away. What matters most is getting to know yourself—your interests and strengths—better and better.

In addition to practical tips and strategies for choosing a major, the focus was above all on discussion. Participants took the opportunity to ask questions, share their own thoughts, and engage in conversation with one another. This led to new connections and surprising perspectives. Some discovered skills and potential within themselves that they hadn’t even been aware of before.

The participants also found the discussions with one another to be helpful. The conversations offered the chance to make new connections, discover common ground, and view their own strengths and abilities from a different perspective. This not only sparked new ideas for personal academic and career planning—but also led to joint lunch dates at the cafeteria.

The #realtalk workshop thus impressively demonstrated that academic orientation isn’t just about gathering information about degree programs. It’s also about discovering oneself, exchanging ideas with others, and finding one’s own path step by step.
