This year’s evaluation shows that there is a broad range of support for first-semester students, especially at the Department of Mathematics: In the facts section of the ranking, the Department ends up in the top range of the category “Support at the beginning of studies” with 11 out of 16 points. In addition to facts about the areas of study, teaching, and research, the CHE University Ranking also includes student assessments. In the survey section, students could give up to five stars for various categories: In all four subjects, the respondents rated the study organization extremely positively with 4.3 to even 4.7 stars. This puts the degree programs in the top group.
The two degree programs Chemistry and Chemical Biology exclusively achieve ratings in the top range of at least four stars in all categories surveyed: for example, for support during studies (4.1), in laboratory courses (4.1), or in subject-specific competencies (4.3). The Computer Science and Applied Computer Science degree programs score particularly well with the spatial equipment (4.3) and the good support from teaching staff (4.2). In the Mathematics, Technomathematics, and Business Mathematics degree programs, also the support by lecturers (4.2) and the introduction to scientific work (4.2) are also rated particularly well. The Physics and Medical Physics degree programs achieve top marks, among other things, for laboratory internships (4.1) and the offers for career orientation (4.2). In addition, the ranking shows that the Department of Physics is nationwide in the top range for “Master’s degrees in a reasonable time”.
