Ruhr Innovation Lab: Presidents Step into the Ring
The Kokerei Hansa is becoming the central meeting point of #diwodo 2026. The Festival of Arts, Tech and Taste offers concerts, CONF3RENCE – Europe’s leading crypto and AI conference – and further items on the program. At the Founders Fight Night “PITCH BOOM BANG”, two start-ups at a time will face off against each other in the ring at the Kokerei Hansa on 16 September. In each round, the audience decides which start-up goes through. In the presence of boxing legend Regina Halmich, the President of TU Dortmund University, Prof. Manfred Bayer, and the President of Ruhr University Bochum, Prof. Martin Paul, will also step into the ring. They will be competing outside the official scoring and will present the Ruhr Innovation Lab, with which the two universities have applied for the title of a Consortium of Excellence.
CET: Business Day
How does research turn into a tangible innovation for a company? At the Business Day, a new event format run by the Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer (CET) of TU Dortmund University, academia and industry will come together on 21 September to develop joint solutions to the challenges of tomorrow. Under the title “Algorithms for Practice”, participants will learn how AI, data-driven methods, and abstract models are being put to use in industry. Alongside a range of talks, the event offers room for personal exchange and networking.
EDIH-DO and TU Dortmund University: Webinar Series
In a four-part series offered by the European Digital Innovation Hub Dortmund (EDIH-DO), companies have the opportunity to engage with various aspects of data-driven processes. Drawing on concrete examples, the seminars set out best practices for data processes in small and medium-sized enterprises. Researchers of TU Dortmund University contribute their expertise and introduce participants with differing levels of prior knowledge to the subject: Natalia Ogorelysheva of the Department of Computer Science, Katharina Langebach of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Felix Finkeldey of the Lamarr Institute.
Digital Hub Logistics Dortmund: Laboratory Tour
On a laboratory tour through the halls of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), visitors can experience the latest technologies and their use in practice on 21 September. In doing so, they gain insights into current research topics pursued by researchers of Fraunhofer IML and TU Dortmund University, and can try out the technologies for themselves.
innoclub: Scaling Innovation
At the innoclub at TechnologieZentrumDortmund (TZDO), companies and start-ups provide insights into their experiences from joint innovation projects and report on opportunities, challenges and success factors. Among those taking part is Ilirjan Bytyqi. Together with TU Dortmund University alumni Haris Yalcinkaya and Enes Arpaci, he founded Ziya GmbH, a TU Dortmund University start-up offering AI solutions for business, politics and academia.
