For the 2026/2027 winter semester, TU Dortmund University will once again award “Deutschlandstipendium” scholarships to high-achieving and committed students. The application phase runs from 15 August to 15 September 2026. The scholarship program is aimed at all students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the university. First-year students can also apply for funding.

Since the 2011/2012 winter semester, more than 2,000 high-achieving and talented students at TU Dortmund University have already been supported by a “Deutschlandstipendium” (Scholarship of Germany), among them scholarship holders from over 30 countries. The monthly grant amounts to 300 euros and is paid regardless of the students’ other income.

Above all, applicants must demonstrate good academic performance, but the selection process also takes into account how they got to this point in their education journey, their civic engagement and their willingness to take on responsibility, as well as any significant personal circumstances. Generally, the selected students receive funding for two semesters, from 1 October to 30 September of the following year. Until the end of the standard period of study, scholarship holders can apply each year for their funding to be continued.

The “Deutschlandstipendium” is provided in equal parts by the federal government and by private sponsors, i.e., by companies, associations, foundations, alumni, or private individuals. Scholarship holders therefore do not only benefit financially from the “Deutschlandstipendium” ; it also gives them the opportunity to build valuable networking contacts with their sponsors. At the traditional scholarship ceremony, for example, donors and scholarship holders get to know one another and can exchange ideas.
