The poster exhibition at the Dortmunder U shows student works that were created as part of the “Introduction to Process Engineering Production (PEP)” course.
Vertical farming, recycling reinforced concrete, analog cheese and batteries of the future – these are just some of the topics that first-year students at the Department of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering (BCI) at TU Dortmund University have been working on this semester. They are presenting the results of their project work as a poster exhibition at the university floor in the Dortmunder U. The exhibition “Shaping a sustainable future” can be seen until 23 February.

How does a pea become a sausage? How do you deal with fluctuations in the electrical grid? How do rapid tests for cannabinoids work? And can you produce synthesis gas with fries fat? For one semester, first-year students at the Department BCI worked together in interdisciplinary teams to develop creative solutions to these and other questions. Their innovative ideas are not only relevant in industry, but also in everyday life.

The posters were developed as part of the course “Introduction to Process Engineering Production (PEP)”. The project work combines thinking in terms of technical solution strategies with skills such as teamwork, time management and scientific writing. The exhibition is also aimed at school pupils and anyone interested in studying Biochemical and Chemical Engineering at TU Dortmund University.

Study information in the exhibition:
Wednesday, 5 February, 4-5 p.m.
Thursday, 20 February, 3-4 p.m.

Campus Stadt
At Campus Stadt, TU Dortmund University, as a partner in the Dortmunder U, regularly provides insights into research and teaching. Exhibition presentations and the space as a forum for dialogue offer the city society various event formats to get to know and discuss scientific disciplines’ questions and findings together.

The exhibition can be visited during Dortmunder U’s opening hours. Admission is free.
