Lecture Series for first-year students: Right from the Start!

This lecture series will help you to start your studies feeling well-informed and fully prepared. All incoming first-year students, as well as current students, are warmly welcome.
No need to register for any of the events — just stop by!
Please note that all lectures will be delivered in German. However, you can always talk to the Student Advisory Service and take your time to go through the slides uploaded to Moodle.

- How Do Foundations Provide Funding?
- Who can apply?
- How does the application process work?
- Which scholarship is right for me?
- Are scholarships only for highly gifted students?

In addition to general information about major scholarship programs, the event will focus on the Deutschlandstipendium at TU Dortmund University (application period: August 15–September 15).

At the university, you’re expected to organize your learning process independently and purposefully.
- But how do you prioritize your tasks correctly?
- How do you plan your exam preparation?
- How do you stay motivated and on track?
The Psychological Student Counseling Service will show you how to stay well-organized during your studies despite the wide range of tasks and activities, and how to motivate yourself to tackle your responsibilities. You ’ll also learn proven methods of self-management and time management .

Sure, we learned it some of it in school—but how exactly? And why that way and not another? At the university, there are many different requirements and accordingly different ways of learning.

If you missed the orientation phase and need information about starting your studies, this lecture is for you. In this lecture, the Student Advisory Service will help you prepare at short notice. Topics covered will include:
- information on the class schedule
- academic formalities
- points of contact for specific topics
While this session cannot replace the introductory and orientation phase, it provides an excellent overview of the most important topics related to starting your studies.
