On 18 August, TU Dortmund University officially welcomed its new trainees on campus.
In August, 34 young men and women began their traineeships at TU Dortmund University in eleven different professions. During Induction Week, they got to know the university as an employer. Around 6,600 staff in administration and the departments ensure the best possible conditions for teaching and research. TU Dortmund University, as one of the city’s largest providers of vocational training, offers many opportunities for trainees too.

From Chemical Laboratory Technician to Media Designer or Materials Tester, TU Dortmund University currently offers vocational training in 17 professions. Together with the 34 new trainees, the university currently employs about 130 trainees in total, making it one of the city’s largest providers of vocational training. Trainees at the university benefit from carefully planned teaching curricula and close supervision by 29 instructors. After completing their training, many of the new professionals have the opportunity to continue working at TU Dortmund University.

To give them the best possible start to their training, TU Dortmund University organizes an Induction Week each year for its new trainees. That is why they set off for Hachen on their third day at work, together with their instructors, to get to know each other. Apart from team-building exercises, the three-day excursion also included canoeing. Back in Dortmund, the university and its structures and processes were presented in detail: health, occupational safety, how to submit requests for time off, the Pausenexpress (physical exercise during breaks) and various sports – important cornerstones that help trainees find their feet in everyday working life and choose the options best for them from the wide range on offer.

Trainees in 11 professions

The 34 young women and men are receiving training in the following eleven professions: Chemical Laboratory Technician, Electronics Technician for Equipment and Systems, Computer Science Expert (Subject Area: System Integration), Industrial Mechanic, Technical Product Designer, Materials Tester, Office Manager, Audiovisual Media Designer, Sport and Fitness Management Assistant, Glass Apparatus Builder, and Media and Information Services Specialist.
