TU Dortmund Has 34,269 Students – the Boom Continues Unabated

In the fall, 6,117 women and men registered at TU Dortmund University for the first time. “The demand for places at our university continues unabated,” says Professor Ursula Gather, President of TU Dortmund University. “There is obviously still great interest in going to university.”
In the winter semester 2019/20, there are 4,026 international students, 50 more than in the previous year. The overall proportion of international students has reached approximately 11 percent. The ratio of female to male students has improved slightly in favor of young women: in the current winter semester, there are 15,707 female students compared with 18,561 male students.
With its student numbers, TU Dortmund University is following the national trend. The number of students in Germany has reached a record high of 2,897,336. According to the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, this means an increase of approximately one percent in student numbers by comparison with this time last year.
