Dortmund is a young and dynamic university and science location: over 55,000 students benefit from the large variety of courses on offer. The city's seven universities not only provide comprehensive courses in diverse fields of study, but also conduct cutting-edge research. Around 20 non-university scientific institutions complement Dortmund's research landscape. Networking and cooperation are the hallmarks of the city's scientific life.
Science Master Plan
In order to make Dortmund even more attractive as a location for science and research, around 120 players from science, politics and the municipal community developed the Science Master Plan, which was adopted by the Dortmund City Council in 2013. Due to its great success, the “Master Plan Science 2.0” was adopted in May 2021. Among other things, it describes measures to work together strategically and even more closely in seven areas of expertise.
