TU Dortmund University at the FISU Games

TU Dortmund University will be taking part in the FISU Games from July 16 to 27: Experience top-class sport and concert highlights up close and become part of this unique event in the Ruhr region. More than 8,000 athletes from universities worldwide will compete in the competitions of the “Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire”, or FISU for short, the world federation of university sports.

The world's biggest multi-sport event for students is about to start: with venues in Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen and Berlin.

  • 8,500 athletes
  • 12,000 volunteers
  • Many side events from culture, sport and science

Did you know that the first top German sporting event after the Second World War took place in Dortmund?

In August 1953, teams from 22 countries met in Dortmund for the "Third International University Sports Week". The competitions were held in seven different sports: athletics, basketball, fencing, soccer, swimming, tennis and water polo. The photo shows the opening ceremony in the Rote Erde stadium.
