An exchange semester in Dortmund – or the world

Drei Studierende sitzen in einem Hörsaal mit grüner BestuhlungIn 2014/15, 250 students from abroad spent the winter semester on an exchange at TU Dortmund University. Most of them came from Turkey, France and the United States. Nearly 300 Dortmund students spent the same period gaining experience abroad. The three most popular destinations were the United States, Turkey and Spain.


TU Dortmund University participates in international student exchange in the framework of the EU's ERASMUS+ program. It is the university's largest mobility program and is based on agreements made between the relevant faculty or institute and a partner at a university in another European country. Students can benefit from their faculties’ cooperation and spend one or two semesters abroad. Under ERASMUS, the faculties at TU Dortmund University foster more than 220 partnerships with universities in Europe.

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

TU Dortmund University has been a member of the ISEP network since 1997. ISEP is an association of over 300 colleges and universities in 50 countries cooperating to provide affordable access to international education for a diverse student population. It organizes overseas experiences in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Oceania. As it is an exchange program, ISEP also affords foreign students the opportunity to study at TU Dortmund University.
