What is it about?

Would you like to know how living organisms are structured at the molecular level and how they function?

Are you interested in biomolecules, their properties, and chemical reactions in physiological systems?

Would you like to learn how you can influence the biochemical processes in a cell?

Interest sparked?

In this degree program, students work with topics such as:

  • basic chemistry subjects: general and inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry
  • biological/biochemical fundamentals: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, synthetic biology
  • laboratory internships
  • analytical chemistry and structural elucidation
  • interesting research environment: Biomedicine Center, MPI of Molecular Physiology, IfaDo

Why study Chemical Biology?

Porträt einer Studentin
Bruna
„What fascinates me about studying Chemical Biology is how closely chemical and biological processes are intertwined and how they help us to understand complex mechanisms within the body. The bachelor's program provides a solid foundation in the natural sciences and early hands-on laboratory experience–ideal preparation for research paths or a subsequent master's degree.“
Porträt eines Studenten
Silas
„For me, studying Chemical Biology means experiencing and understanding the mechanisms of life from a chemist's perspective. The bachelor's program combines sound theoretical knowledge with practical training in various fields, directly preparing students for an academic career.“
