Focus on talent: an evening full of perspectives
On December 10, 2025, young talents met in the Hochschuletage of the Dortmunder U for a special event: We say YES!- 10 years of talent scouting in Dortmund. An evening to honor a decade of valuable talent scouting work and to give talents the space to consciously take a look at their educational paths.
In the short presentation, the talents were given impulses from the work and thoughts of Prof. Aladin El-Mafaalani, which once again highlighted the relevance of talent scouting.
Looking to the future, he concluded by encouraging all the young people in the room: "All you can say is that there has probably never been a better time for individual careers and opportunities than now. Really never."
Creative workshops show what the talents are made of
Following the lecture, the talents were able to give free rein to their creativity. Three workshops opened up a wide variety of approaches to their own educational biographies and aimed to strengthen talents in their personal and academic paths and promote their self-efficacy.
A dialog that works - for talents and for talent scouting itself
At the end of the day, it was clear that this event was more than just a networking meeting or a creative workshop. It was a sign of how valuable talent is for the region - and how effective the established talent scouting work in Dortmund is.
This was also demonstrated by the voices of the participants: For talent scout Carina, the idea of networking was particularly important: "I was really pleased to see so many familiar faces again today." Talent Ali emphasized: "The fact that the guest speaker took the time for us shows how important we actually are as young people."
