My way - your chance

Is teaching something for me?

When all the cameras are switched on at an online event, it clearly shows that there is a lot of interest. And so the exchange between the participants on February 4 was correspondingly lively.

As part of the online event, Assiba, a teacher at a vocational college, and Helen, a teacher at a grammar school, talked about their very personal paths to studying and becoming a teacher. Student teacher Tommy gave an insight into his studies at TU Dortmund University and talked about his everyday life as a student teacher. This was complemented by Serkan from talents4teachers, who provided information on the different aspects of studying to become a teacher at the partner universities in Duisburg/Essen, Bochum and Dortmund.

The students were able to ask their questions directly to the speakers during speed dating. These included typical doubts, prejudices about the teaching profession and the question of what everyday life as a student actually looks like. There was also a lot of information about different subjects and the fact that it is completely normal to change your mind again during the course of your studies.

One participant summed up the event perfectly at the end: "Even if there may be certain prejudices about the teaching profession, you should have the courage to follow your own interests - especially if you are really passionate about something.
