Prof. Elmar Weiler and Prof. Martina Havenith-Newen are guests on the new episode of the podcast “Think.Try.Transform.”
Prof. Elmar Weiler, former Rector of Ruhr University Bochum, and RESOLV spokesperson Prof. Martina Havenith-Newen are guests in the new episode of “Think.Try.Transform.”, the podcast of the Ruhr Innovation Lab. The two report on how a brilliant idea gave rise to today‘s joint Cluster of Excellence between Ruhr University Bochum and TU Dortmund University.

“If people don't fit the structures, you can change the structures.” These magical words, spoken unconsciously by the former Rector of Ruhr University Bochum, Prof. Elmar Weiler, laid the foundation for the now internationally renowned RESOLV Cluster of Excellence. As a result, spokesperson Prof. Martina Havenith-Newen did not leave for another host university as planned, but instead conceived a research focus in solvent chemistry during a now legendary train journey. In the new episode of “Think.Try.Transform.”, the two scientists explain how this idea developed into an cross-university cluster, now in its third funding phase, and how researchers work together at RESOLV. The episode is available in German.
