During the traditional scholarship celebration at TU Dortmund University, donors and scholarship recipients came together at the Westphalian Industrial Club.
At TU Dortmund University, numerous committed and high-achieving students are supported monthly with funds from the Deutschlandstipendium (“scholarship of Germany”). At the celebration on 13 March, scholarship recipients had the opportunity to meet the donors of their scholarships in person. Additionally, at the Westphalian Industrial Club the Soroptimist Sponsorship Award was presented to Hülya Uysal, a student in teacher education.

TU Dortmund University has been offering the Deutschlandstipendium as a financial support opportunity for students since the winter semester of 2011/2012. Through this program, companies and private donors provide support for high-achieving and talented students. This funding year, a total of 241 scholarships have been funded by 58 sponsors. Compared to the previous year, TU Dortmund University gained four new donors for the Deutschlandstipendium. Some donors who had taken a short break returned this year, while others even increased the number of scholarships they funded. The largest sponsors include Sparkasse Dortmund, the Wilo Foundation, the Bernd Jochheim Foundation, the RAG Foundation, the Artur and Lieselotte Dumcke Foundation, the Association of Friends of TU Dortmund University, Leue & Nill GmbH & Co. KG, and Evonik Operations GmbH.

The Deutschlandstipendium provides funding for at least two semesters, during which students receive 300 euros per month – 150 euros are contributed by the federal government and another 150 euros by private donors, foundations, or companies. The selection of scholarship recipients focuses on outstanding academic achievements. Additionally, community involvement, a willingness to take on responsibility, or special social, family, or personal circumstances are taken into account.

Special commitment honored

As part of the scholarship celebration, the Soroptimist Sponsorship Award was also presented to Hülya Uysal, who is studying to become a teacher. Daniela Fischer, President of the Soroptimist International Club Dortmund, commended her for her excellent academic achievements and her volunteer work for Friedensdorf International in Oberhausen.
