At the Open House Day, the guests could check out modern technical equipment.
More events, more experiences, deeper immersion into university life: This was possible at TU Dortmund University’s largest Open House Day to date on 9 November. Visitors could participate in 145 events and get to know the university – even from unusual perspectives. On the event day, doors that are usually closed to the public opened. This allowed even experienced campus-goers to discover something new. Prospective students had various opportunities to learn about TU Dortmund University’s degree programs.

Lectures, tours, experiments, exhibitions, interactive activities – the facilities and departments of TU Dortmund University put together a diverse program this year as well. Interested individuals could try their hand at glassblowing, find out what they look like as a digital avatar, or help turn old game consoles into powerful computers.

In various lectures, visitors could get a taste of lecture hall air and dive into student life and learn more about various current topics – from an analysis of the US presidential election results to the novel field of omics in microbiology to the future of power supply. The mobile exhibition “Big Bang on the Move” offered a tour through the history of the universe, bringing physical theory to life.

Robot soccer was also a popular part of the program.

Diverse Children’s Program

Popular events from previous years, such as the tour through the university’s supply channels, the interactive blacksmith show at the experimental hall, or the live experiment “Fire, Lightning, and Spark,” rounded off the program. There was also a special program for the little guests: They could put together their own coloring book, help with chemical experiments, or prove themselves as space experts.
