Open House Day as Big as Never Before

On Saturday, 28 October, TU Dortmund University invites everyone to its largest Open House Day ever on its campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Visitors can take part in more than 120 events and get to know the university – also from unusual perspectives. On the day of the event, doors will be opened that are usually closed to the public. Those interested in studying will have numerous opportunities to find out more about the courses offered at TU Dortmund University.

Lectures, guided tours, experiments, exhibitions, hands-on activities – the institutions and departments of TU Dortmund University have again put together a varied program this year. On Open House Day, for example, those interested can explore one of Germany's most modern high-voltage halls, try their hand at being a newscaster in the Training Newsroom of the Institute of Journalism, or find out how art and engineering go together. Guided tours of the Central Library offer the opportunity to take a last look at the empty building.

At various lectures, visitors can get a taste of lecture hall life and immerse themselves in student life. Here, too, the topics are relevant and varied - from the search for antibiotics, to green spaces in the Ruhr region, to the physics of beer. The new format "Science Snacks" offers short lectures from different departments and thus new knowledge every quarter of an hour.

Dortmund's biggest breakfast

Popular events familiar from previous years, such as the guided tour of the university's supply channels, the interactive blacksmith show in the Experimental Hall, the craft corner in the Model Making Workshop and the guided tour of robot soccer round out the program.

Back in the program is Dortmund's largest breakfast in the main cafeteria, offered by the Studierendenwerk (Association for Student Affairs). There, visitors can fortify themselves for their day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets for the breakfast are available at the cash desks of the Main Cafeteria, the Galerie, the Food Fakultät, the Archeteria as well as at the InfoPoint of the Studierendenwerk (Association for Student Affairs) and according to availability at the box office. Rides on the H-Bahn, which connects the university's two campuses, are free from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Open House Day.
