Structure Project (since June 2022)

TU-SUGR: TU Dortmund Support for Gender in Research

With the project TU-SUGR (TU Dortmund University Support for Gender in Research) TU Dortmund University worked on the identification of possible measures to structurally initiate and established the support of gender-differentiated research in the long term. Thus, in a conceptual phase funded by the BMBF within the framework of the funding guideline "Geschlechteraspekte im Blick", interdisciplinary discussions were stimulated and corresponding support needs were identified.

The strategy of TU Dortmund University comprises five packages of measures to promote gender-differentiated research in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities:

  1. Consultation: compiling, linking and expanding current offers; refining the concept of a new service point.
  2. Exchange: pilot for a new series of events; discussions in existing network formats
  3. Visibility: project presentation in the interview series 'Spotlight Forschung'; conception of a university GenderPortal
  4. Survey and interviews with researchers: For the evaluation of specific support needs at TU Dortmund University.
  5. Structures: SWOT analysis, refining the structural design concept ('GiB concept')

Project coordination: Prof. Dr. Nele McElvany (Vice President Research), Annika Schmidtpeter (Office of Research Support Services)
