In bioengineering and chemical engineering, women and men are equally in demand when it comes to the small and large problems of life: clean laundry, clean water and clean air - but also paint, cosmetics, medicine, fertilizers or new forms of energy. Chemical engineering, also known as "chemical technology," is an interdisciplinary, scientific-technical course of study that provides comprehensive scientific treatment of the material conversion processes used to produce about half of Germany's industrial products.

Chemical products can be found everywhere in our everyday lives, e.g. in medicines, storage media, plastics, technical products and analytical instruments. Chemists are involved in researching the fundamentals as well as the new or further development of these and many other products.

Civil engineers plan, calculate and design support structures, using their technical skills and knowledge of construction, computer-assisted calculation and design programs. For this, they take into account the physical properties of specific building materials and the characteristics of different building processes. The B.Sc. in Civil Engineering prepares students for these tasks. It allows them to pursue advanced studies in the shape of a Master’s program and gives them a first professional qualification for the planning and executing of general structural engineering tasks.

Today, new knowledge in science, economics, management, and technology is created almost exclusively from large quantities of complex data. To properly handle patient or customer data, share prices and returns, and weather or climate information, one needs knowledge of statistics, computer science, and mathematics. These subjects are combined in the Data Science Bachelor’s degree program. Students acquire the ability to carry out statistical data analyses and at the same time gain deeper insights into concepts and methods in computer science.

The Bachelor of Economic Policy Journalism combines a degree in economics with a journalism degree. Our students spend a good half of their studies in the economics faculty and also undergo the practical training in the multimedia training newsroom of the Institute of Journalism as well as an integrated one-year traineeship at the end of their studies. Accompanying seminars during the studies create the link between the fields of economics and journalism.
