The Science Night takes place at the Dortmunder U, in the city and on the campus.
On Friday, 27 September, the first “Science Night – The Dortmund Science Night” will take place. At the Dortmunder U and selected locations around the city, visitors can enjoy a diverse range of science and interactive activities from 4:00 p.m. until late in the evening. TU Dortmund University will participate with various programs in the city and on campus.

Around 40 partner institutions will jointly organize the Science Night, from A for “Academy for Theater and Digitality” to Z for “Zoo Dortmund.” Dortmund’s universities and scientific institutes, along with many other educational partners, will offer readings, interactive activities, excursions, and workshops, as well as cultural and musical contributions until late at night. The program also includes lectures and discussions on various topics. Under the theme of “Freedom,” the nationwide Science Year 2024, TU Dortmund University scientists will discuss topics such as how soccer can promote democracy or how the film “Ex Machina” addresses artificial intelligence. Additionally, there will be a Science Slam, science shows, and many interactive stations. Visitors of all ages can get hands-on with various experiments, such as building a foldable microscope, soldering a circuit, or mixing a skin cream. Excursions, like a food tasting with the small monkeys Plumploris (slow lorises) at the Dortmund Zoo or a virtual flight into space with “SPACEBUZZ One” on the TU campus, round out the offerings.
